#1 Salisbury Rallies to Defeat Mary Washington

Jake has 3 and 1 in Salisbury win

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The top-ranked Salisbury University men's lacrosse team pulled off another second half rally to keep the various winning streaks intact. The Sea Gulls outscored University of Mary Washington 7-2 in the second half to win 10-5 on the road Wednesday in a Capital Athletic Conference contest.

SU sophomore Jake DeLillo (one assist) scored two of his game-high three goals in the third quarter as his last tally caused the third tie in the game at 5-5. Senior attackman Greg Titus (one assist) gave the Sea Gulls their first lead with 2:22 left in the third off an assist from sophomore Mike Von Kamecke (two assists). Titus matched DeLillo with three goals scored.

The Sea Gulls (12-0, 5-0 CAC) closed out the game on a 6-0 run to win their 94 consecutive CAC game, including conference postseason, 76-0 during the CAC regular season. Salisbury has won its last 35 games since 2007 and 74 straight regular-season contests since 2003.

Zach Krissoff made his first-ever start in goal for the Sea Gulls as the junior made eight saves, seven in the second half.

Mary Washington (5-5, 2-3 CAC) came out of the gates quick with two quick scores to begin the game. Charlie White finished a feed from Brent Fisk just two and a half minutes into the game. Fisk tacked on an unassisted goal four minutes later to give the Eagles the early 2-0 lead after the first quarter.

DeLillo got the Sea Gulls on the board early in the second as he scored off an assist from Kylor Berkman (two goals, two assists). UMW answered back two minutes later to increase its lead to 3-1. That score stood until five minutes left before the half when Stephen Krasco scored the first of his two goals on the afternoon. Salisbury tied the game right before the half when senior Matt Hickman found Titus for the equalizer with 1:28 left.

The Eagles scored two of the first three goals to begin the third quarter before Salisbury went on its 6-0 run to end the game.

Salisbury won 9-of-19 face-offs, made 13-of-15 clears, scooped up 39 ground balls, converted 1-of-4 extra-man opportunities and outshot UMW 35-19. The Eagles made 12-of-22 clears, got 26 ground balls and was 0-for-3 on extra-man opportunities.

The Eagles were led by Sean Brown's two goals in the loss. UMW goalie Ryan Kleman made 16 saves in between the pipes.

Salisbury remains on the road for Saturday's conference match-up against No. 12 Villa Julie College in Owings Mills, Md., for a 2:00 p.m. game.
