Town brings Cup back home

Posted Sunday, May 04, 2008 by .
10-9 Town over LP in Murph Cup. Town was winning 8-4 at the start of the 4th. LP went on a five goal run when they won the faceoff battle in the quarter. LP went up 9-8 with less then 2 minutes to go. Froats picked up the grounder on the next faceoff and went down to feed Kurpis for the game tier with a little more than a minute to go. Town won the next faceoff and called timeout. After working it around, Remy found Ranagan at the top of the box and John split to his right and fired an overhand shot between the goalies legs with 16 seconds left for the win. Town could not put the game away when it had the change to but showed great heart at the end to comeback and then put it away. A rematch looms in playoffs against the same LP team and Yorktown must work on ridding itself of those lapses.
