The Fairfield University men's lacrosse team plays its second consecutive home game as it hosts non-conference foe Colgate University on Saturday at 3 p.m. The Stags are 2-1 on the year, with both wins coming at home, while the Raiders are 2-3, and are still looking for their first road victory. The two teams are meeting for the fourth time in men's lacrosse with the Stags holding a 2-1 advantage. The Raiders won the first meeting in the series, 23-10 in the championship game of the 1997 ECAC Tournament. A year later, at Colgate, the Stags earned earned the ECAC crown with a 9-7 win over the Raiders. The last meeting between the two teams came in 2004, in Vero Beach, Fla, another Stags win, 9-8.
Fans will have a number of ways to follow the game if they are not able to make it to Alumni Stadium. For the first time this season WVOF 88.5 FM, the Fairfield student radio station, will provide the call of the game, with Mike Vitale providing play-by-play. That call is also part of the B2 Networks video streaming of the game, allowing fans to watch all the action on their computers. As always, fans can access livestats to keep track of the action.
Charlie Cipriano earned his second weekly award from the ECAC on Monday, being named the league's Rookie of the Week. He was so honored after making seven saves in a 5-4 win over Rutgers.
The game is the second of a double-header, with the Fairfield women's lacrosse team hosting Mount St. Mary's at noon.
