The highly-billed state championship rematch between Jamesville-DeWitt and Yorktown on Tuesday seemed to be destined for late drama after the squads entered intermission tied, but a huge 9-0 spurt in the third doomed the Red Rams, as they fell 15-11.

By the time that J-D put some solid possessions together in the closing quarter and rattled off six scores over the final frame, it was "too much of a hole to dig out of," according to Red Rams coach Jamie Archer.

"They kind of took it to us. They had a lot more intensity than us right off the bat. They pretty much controlled the face-offs," he said.

The Huskers' victory served as a measure of revenge for last year's 9-6 defeat in the title game. Archer said his team missed numerous opportunities in the first half and solid goalkeeping from Yorktown was a key to their victory.

"They had a lot more intensity than us in the game and we couldn't match it," he said.

Both teams are state-ranked, as Yorktown is No. 6 in Class B, while J-D is second in Class C. The Red Rams also currently hold the top spot in the CNY boys lacrosse poll.
